Josh Ensign
Josh Ensign is the owner of Ensign Operations Consulting. Josh has over 25 years of experience managing engineering, manufacturing and supply chains in high technology companies across different industries. While Josh has lead large teams across multiple functions, his passion lies in building and growing manufacturing companies. Throughout his career, Josh has built 8 manufacturing facilities and scaled many more.
Josh is also the Chief Operating Officer at Moxion Power and oversees all engineering, IT, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, quality, safety, and field service functions. Prior to joining Moxion, Josh was President of Proterra Transit (NASDAQ: PTRA), the leading US manufacturer of 100% battery electric buses and electric powertrains. During his time at Proterra, he participated in an IPO that raised over $650M. Josh also spent time as Proterra’s COO, where he designed, developed, and built two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in California, and significantly expanded operations in their South Carolina manufacturing facility. A U.S. Army veteran and former executive of Honeywell International and Tesla Motors, Josh has led global operations for 48 factories in 15 countries and managed the supporting supply chains. As Vice President of Manufacturing at Tesla Motors, Josh was responsible for 7,000 employees and all manufacturing activities at the Fremont, CA, production site. This included the installation of the current Model S high volume production line, the launch of both the dual-motor platform and the Model X, and the establishment of Tesla’s new seat manufacturing facility. Before Tesla, Josh led global operations in Honeywell International’s automotive and aerospace businesses. He has lived and operated abroad in Germany, Mexico, China and Switzerland.
Josh holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Gonzaga University and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
